Issue: 34
Hello and welcome to TSC Issue 34. Considering we have a lot of new folks on board here from NAMM, Concert Share, and a couple other industry events and meetings, I thought I would add a little information about these TSC Issue.
In a nutshell, the TSC Issue is an update on current things happening at TSC and within the production industry. Our real goal is to share our passion in what we do and inspire others to find their passion in what they do. The TSC Issue is a glance into the crazy production world and the great synergy that happens between company and client.
Our readers are production managers, musicians, record labels, industry manufacturers, event planners, production companies, government organizations, non profit organizations, theater techs, studio owners, major media networks, broadcast staff, and  corporate executives. They one thing they all have in common ... they are all the great clients of TSC.
So let's dig in ... enjoy the ride!!!

NAMM Show 2012

Taylor Guitars Booth
As many may know, January brings one of the largest trade show events to Anaheim California. This year was no different. Thousands of manufacturers had new offerings to display.  Here is a little video I put together of our NAMM visit.

New Product Innovation - Yamaha DXR Series

DXR Demo at NAMM

I was pretty excited about this product launch at NAMM. One of our good buddies David Hatmaker was instrumental in the development of this great live sound product. It takes a long time to develop new innovative products like this. These are awesome new tools that I'm sure will developing into other areas of the Yamaha Commercial Audio line. Awesome job David. You probably aren't told enough ... thank you for what you have brought to our industry.

A My Sweet Sixteen Event

The Phatal DJ
Have you ever seen the show on MTV called "My Sweet Sixteen"? Basically, it is a reality show that showcases lavish sweet sixteen parties. We did our first Sweet Sixteen hotel party at the Riviera Hotel in Palm Springs.
This event featured three different DJ's pumpin jams through our NEXO rig.One of the other big things that happened at this event was a "So You Think You Can Dance" type dance troupe.

TSC Heritage
The Hunns
We have done a lot of remote recordings but none like this one. This was an event we did for the Fox Fuel Network for Check ...1... 2.. Here you see Duane Peters flopping on the stage like a fish. The funny part of the event was when the fire marshal stepped out of the building to have a smoke and Duane jumped into the audience and was blasting huge fireballs from his mount like KISS! The fire marshal came back in, he had no idea what went on in the venue.
Catch some of the mayhem from our show here as I mixed live for broadcast.

Speaking of KISS ... I once was asked to produce some guitar tracks for Mark St. John of KISS, Black Sabbath, White Tiger, and several other.Apparently they were having some problems trying to find a good lead tone. So I grabbed some amps, effects, and a few other bags of tricks. I get to the studio and I hear some guy yelling at Seymour Duncan to get him different pick ups RIGHT NOW!!! In the corner I see two 24 track machines locked up together and just behind the console is two large three way concert boxes. These JBL concert boxes were their studio monitors. So I ask them to play some tracks. These tracks were so large sounding! Basically one whole 24 track machine was running all the guitars. There was layers and layers of guitars playing. So the task was to get one lead guitar to stand up to  24 tracks of other guitars. Needless to say, there really wasn't a way this was ever going to work. At some point you have to back some things down to make room for other things. What a day that was. think my ears are still ringing.
